What to expect...

Drywall Repairs:
Drywall repairs is often a very time consuming and is a notoriously messy trade. Drywall, often times called Sheetrock is typically an interior wallboard consisting of a gypsum core sandwiched by paper backing. If installed and finished correctly, the wall and ceiling surface it is applied to can be transformed into a smooth or textured surface, depending on what the outcome you are trying to achieve. Like many other trades, drywall repairs take time and expertise to be completed correctly. When completing drywall repairs, you should expect some moderate noise while being installed, followed by times of low to little noise when being finished. Please keep in mind, the process of finishing the surface will be messy and dusty. Our company takes effort to protect the surrounding surfaces and rooms, however the dust created during the finishing process will often find it’s way through the barriers. This light white dust is harmless, and for the most part odorless, however it is very difficult to contain and clean up. Please let our crew know if you feel the dust is too excessive, or unbearable, and we will see if there is anything we can do to help contain the work area better.

Painting Work:
Painting is one of the most commonly seen repair. Painting typically will entail a process of sealing/priming the affected surface, followed by a finish paint. The great characteristic of painting is that it is typically quiet, however, a main drawback is the strong odor typically generated. Commonly used latex primers, paint, and stains often have strong odors, however, oil and shellac based counterparts have very noxious and possibly hazardous fumes. When priming and painting, ensure adequate ventilation is provided, and if the odor is too much to handle, you feel light headed, or have a headache, it’s best to leave the area and get fresh air.

Kitchen Renovations:
People save for years to renovate their aging kitchen, and we at J&D Builders understand that it is not an easy decision to make, to renovate a kitchen. Due to the seemingly unlimited amount of decisions that need to be made, coupled with the incredible inconvenience of not having a kitchen to use for over a month, sometimes homeowners will turn away from doing the project altogether. A typical kitchen renovation will take between 4-8 weeks, with the kitchen being unusable for most of that time period. When planning a kitchen renovation try your best to have a vision in mind. Do you want moderm? Do you want traditional? Do you want more light? Do you want to reconfigure the appliance locations? All these factors will play into the time and cost associated with the renovation. Please also set your budget and try to stick with it. It’s very easy to get carried away at the nice, new, and fancy upgrades available out there, but remember your budget and try your best to stay within your means.

Bathroom Renovations:
Similar to kitchen renovations, bathroom renovations are extremely daunting as well. Time frames to complete bathrooms typically will range from 3-6 weeks depending on the finishes and complexity of the renovation. Also, like kitchen renovations, try to have an idea of the finished product in mind. If you go into the project prepared and educated, the process will be less intimidating, and more fun!
